Equipment Operator
Responsibilities:
- Operate one or more of the following equipment and/or machine types: dump truck, front-end loader, backhoe motor grader, and excavator.
- Operate and perform preventative maintenance on various construction equipment including but not limited to hand tools, power tools, tamps, quick cut saws, air hammers, mowers, etc.
- Perform heavy manual labor such as: digging, lifting, hauling, spraying, etc.
- Prepare surfaces for paving.
- Perform routine checks to ensure machinery operates at optimal levels.
- Perform maintenance and installation of wet utility systems.
- Perform manual unskilled labor as required.
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- Effective operation and maintenance of medium and heavy equipment.
- Proper lifting and rigging methods and construction operations
- Implement traffic and highway safety rules and regulations, and effective precautions to be taken.
- Operation of heavy construction equipment.
- Professional certification in operating specific types of heavy machinery, often provided by vocational schools or trade associations.
- Valid driver's license and, depending on the machinery, additional endorsements may be required.
- Prior experience with the specific type of machinery used in the Construction Industry is highly advantageous.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, pull and push minimum 50 pounds.
- Be physically qualified for lifting and moving heavy items, agile and capable of walking over rough uneven terrain, etc.
- Ability to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb stairs, climb ladders, walk on uneven ground, work above ground on scaffolds.
