Equipment Operator

Responsibilities:

  • Operate one or more of the following equipment and/or machine types: dump truck, front-end loader, backhoe motor grader, and excavator.
  • Operate and perform preventative maintenance on various construction equipment including but not limited to hand tools, power tools, tamps, quick cut saws, air hammers, mowers, etc.
  • Perform heavy manual labor such as: digging, lifting, hauling, spraying, etc.
  • Prepare surfaces for paving.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure machinery operates at optimal levels.
  • Perform maintenance and installation of wet utility systems.
  • Perform manual unskilled labor as required.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Effective operation and maintenance of medium and heavy equipment.
  • Proper lifting and rigging methods and construction operations
  • Implement traffic and highway safety rules and regulations, and effective precautions to be taken.
  • Operation of heavy construction equipment.
  • Professional certification in operating specific types of heavy machinery, often provided by vocational schools or trade associations.
  • Valid driver's license and, depending on the machinery, additional endorsements may be required.
  • Prior experience with the specific type of machinery used in the Construction Industry is highly advantageous.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, pull and push minimum 50 pounds.
  • Be physically qualified for lifting and moving heavy items, agile and capable of walking over rough uneven terrain, etc.
  • Ability to twist, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, crawl, climb stairs, climb ladders, walk on uneven ground, work above ground on scaffolds.
